Overview

All History is “Local”. It defines from whence our families came and it shapes our future. Knowledge of our past instills a sense of belonging, of pride in the place in which we live.  In one way or another local history has touched all of our lives and helped to make us who we are.

In this section entitled “Local History” you will find the histories of some of Ossett’s places and their people. You will learn of families whose names have echoed down the centuries; families who have left their mark, for good or bad, on Ossett’s physical and social landscape.
