Aircraftman 2nd Class Jack Thomson

Jack Thomson was born in Ossett on the 12th March 1920, the son of George Sawer Thomson (1882-1960) and Edith Booth (1880-1962) who married in the Dewsbury area on the 19th June 1918. George Thomson was born at Musselborough, Midlothian, Scotland and was living there in 1901. Edith Booth was born on 4th October 1880 in Ossett and in 1911 she was living at 6, South Terrace, Horbury Road, Ossett with her parents and three of her four siblings. Her brother Joseph was a teacher of music.

George and Edith THomson had three children, Jean, Jack and Roy, all born in Ossett between 1918 and 1923. By 1939, George, a bricklayer, and his wife Edith had moved to live at 8, Sunnydale Park, Ossett with their three children, including Jack, who was working as a junior salesman for a furniture dealer.

Died 9th July 1943 aged 23 years and is buried at St. Johns Methodist Graveyard, Ossett, Row 70, Grave 554. Jack Thomson’s death was recorded in Scarborough, North Yorkshire.
